A characteristic of silver is that it discolors over time (sulfurization). You can clean it with a commercially available polishing cloth or baking soda. Rubbing too hard may cause scratches, so gentle care is the key to keeping it clean.

Prehnite brings out its beauty as a jewel only when it is handled by humans. Polishing brings out the pearl luster and transparent color and shines. Prehnite is named after Colonel Lulane, who first discovered this stone in South Africa and brought it back to Europe. Gem-quality transparent stones are small and rare. As the Japanese name "budo-seki" indicates, the ore is produced as translucent cluster-shaped crystals of grapes. Some stones are translucent and contain no inclusions, while others show cracks, needle-like inclusions of black tourmaline (rutile), and bright copper-colored flecks. There are very rare stones with pleochroism, but they are very rare and the value of the stone is high.
<Handling of Prehnite>
 Prehnite cannot be steam cleaned as it loses moisture when heated and cannot be repaired. Also, avoid chemicals, as hydrochloric acid can cause prenite to become jelly-like.
