In cultured pearls, a “nucleus” is placed in the shell of the shell to form a pearl layer. (Seawater-free nuclear pearls are called poppies.) In Japan, Akoya pearls are cultivated. Most freshwater pearls currently in circulation are farmed. In Japan, aquaculture is carried out in Lake Biwa and Kasumigaura. Since no nucleus is inserted into the shell, it is all made up of nacre.  <Care of pearls> 
 Since pearls are organic, they are vulnerable to alcohol, cosmetics and detergents contained in heat and perfume, and touching them will damage the beautiful shine. Also, since sweat is acidic, it can damage the pearl layer and cause cloudiness, so it is important to wipe it clean with a dry cloth after use. Also, because it is easily scratched, separate it from other jewels and put it in a separate case. Avoid storing in a place with high humidity or high temperature.
