Diligent knowledge of precious metals used for accessories

gold, silver or platinum.
There are various types of precious metals used for accessories.
Here, I would like to touch on precious metals used in accessories.
When it comes to precious metals used in accessories, one thing to keep in mind is metal allergies.
What can I hide, I am also allergic to metal as a manager.
A long time ago, I had a bitter experience with a necklace that caused a rash around my neck day by day.
The main cause of metal allergy is nickel.
Note that nickel may be used as an alloy for gold and silver as well.

Monstera leaf uses sterling silver with only copper as the alloy. I also love the accessories from our store, but I enjoy being fashionable without any problems. Especially during the summer sweating season, the salt and metal contained in sweat are more likely to react. At times like that, we recommend a natural stone necklace that doesn't touch the skin with metal! Well, I tried to put some metal knowledge. (It is a metal deeply related to our shop)

《 Diligent knowledge of metals 》
★ [SV925/Silver925 (sterling silver)]
Common types of silver include SV950, SV925 and SV900. SV1000 is pure silver.
SV925 is an alloy mixed with 7.5% metal other than silver and is the most widely used (Monstera leaf uses sterling silver alloyed only with copper).

Sterling Silver is a binary silver alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, and is the most commonly used grade for silver products. Indication of Sterling Silver will be misrepresented if a rate other than copper is added. Ag925 indication must be used when metals other than copper are included.
The reason for not using pure silver is to avoid losing strength and luster by mixing other metals. Pure silver is a very soft metal and not suitable for jewelry.
"Sterling silver" refers to this SV925.
The word Sterling means something like 'genuine' or 'trustworthy'.
In general, SV925 is said to be the most resistant to sulfurization (discoloration).

★ [Argentium Silver]
Germanium is mixed in more than usual, and it is a dream-like silver that does not turn black like general silver and is practically tarnish-free (does not sulfide).
You can enjoy the soft shine peculiar to silver with simple care. If it becomes cloudy like K18, you can restore the shine by simply polishing it lightly with a soft cloth.
It is also about twice as strong as conventional sterling silver.
Monstera Leaf Argentium Silver products are 93.0% pure silver alloyed with 7% copper and germanium.

★ [GF (gold filled)]
Gold filled is a layer of gold that is crimped onto a material (SV925, brass, copper, etc.) using high heat and pressure. tension).
<14/20K> means that 1/20 or more of the total product weight is 14K gold.
Since it is made with a much thicker layer than gold plating, it will hardly come off even after long-term use. In recent years, it has become a popular metal as it is often used in accessories.

★ [Vermeil]
SV925 is coated with a thick layer of 24K (24K) or 10K or higher pure gold, a specialized technique often used in French antiques.
It is very heavy and luxurious.

★ [K18 (18-karat gold)]
In the case of K18, 75% is pure gold and the remaining 25% is alloyed with silver, copper, palladium, etc.
K10 is 42% pure gold.
In Japan, pure gold is stamped as K24 or pure gold. In Europe, K18 may be stamped as 750.
Depending on the ratio of the alloy and base metal, it can be common yellow gold, white gold, or pink gold.
The reason why K18 is often used is because, like silver, pure gold is soft and not suitable for jewelry.
In the United States, K14 (58.5% pure gold) is the mainstream. In Southeast Asia, there are many high-purity products such as K22 and K20.
